Penny Simkin made an interactive display called “Road Map of Labour Package”. This display is an excellent tool for teaching expectant parents and others about the stages of labour. The display depicts normal labour as a journey that starts with early labour and ends with the baby’s birth.
The journey consists of three paths:
a winding yellow brick road with twists and turns that has no fixed timeline,
a detour for back pain, which is a longer and rougher road that eventually rejoins the yellow brick road,
and the epidural highway, which represents the option to have an epidural for pain relief.
Each path ends with the joyful arrival of the baby.
The road map of labour display includes illustrations of different comfort measures to use as labour progresses, making it an ideal teaching tool for childbirth classes and a valuable addition to birthing rooms. Package includes tear pad, chart and presentation guide (laminated, large size, 750mm x 570mm).
