Five inspirational stories of homebirth have been compiled on this DVD with each one exploring different experiences: Nancy has a calm hypnobirth in water; Victoria’s husband Mac overcomes his fears; Bel’s determined to have a home waterbirth despite developing gestational diabetes; Sally’s plans for a vaginal birth after a previous Caesarean; and Clare decides to have a homebirth for her first baby.
All of these stories are recounted by the parents with no editorial commentary. The births are beautifully filmed and often include contributions from family members, the midwives and friends who were present. Feelings and emotions are freely explored and the power, energy and triumph as each woman achieves her goal is a joy to see. This film has been made to encourage parents to explore their options and make choices that feel right for them. It was made in the south of England, where home birth is readily accepted and a viable option.
Also included is an explanatory booklet containing information about homebirth and the specific issues mentioned in the DVD (VBAC,Gestational Diabetes,Waterbirth, Hypnobirthing, Entonox, TENS, Pethidine, Epidural analgesia).
