Designed to complement childbirth classes, this film explains the procedures that occur during a planned Caesarean birth. It covers:
- admission procedures
- going to theatre
- administration of a spinal anaesthetic
- baby being lifted out (no close up views of the surgery)
- postnatal baby weighing
- first contact with the mother
- a view of the incision
- recovery ward and
- first breastfeeding.
The father is involved throughout. Includes reflections of the mother 8 hours post surgery and 2 weeks later.
