Nicky Leap is a midwifery activist, writer and speaker. She has worked in London for many years, specialising in home birth with disadvantaged women. Since becoming an Australian resident, Nicky has worked in a variety of projects at Flinders University (SA) and the University of Technology, Sydney. These projects promote woman-centred midwifery practice as well as new models of care. They also look at introducing ‘direct entry’ midwifery education within a national framework. Nicky is currently Professor of Midwifery Practice Development and Research UTS & SESIAHS and Visiting Senior Research Fellow, Kings College London.
